As a soil scientist, I recognize the importance of educating people to realize and acknowledge the role soils play in our day-to-day life. I enjoy disseminating my research and knowledge to general public about how we all owe to soils for our very existence!

World Soil Day

Dec 5, 2017, Pennsylvania State University: Me along with other fellow soil scientists from Penn State set up a booth to demonstrate 'Claude-the clod' which is a 4000x scale model of a soil macro-aggregate with its associated organisms. It was fun!

Exploration-U

March 28, 2018, Mount Nittany Middle School:

I was able to connect with the public through hands-on science demos. Thank you Eberly College of Science's Office of Science Outreach and Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, Penn State for this opportunity to do some science outreach locally.

USA Science & Engineering Festival

April 7 & 8, 2018, Washington DC:

I was fortunate to represent Penn State at USASEF to convey the message to public that soil microorganisms are of pivotal importance because they regulate soil health and sustainability. I displayed a mock soil profile with multiple horizons prepared with multicolored playdoh. Kids loved the hands-on activity that included sampling soil profile by poking straws (especially because they got to keep the sample)! I was so happy to see the spark in the curious eyes of kids and teens and enormous support of their parents towards science. Thanks to Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, Penn State for this opportunity.
